Vivendi Universal Games merged with Activision in 2008 to become Activision Blizzard, at which point many of its IPs were sold off to various other game publishers and developers. North American headquarters were in Culver City, CA at the Howard Hughes Center. The education arm of VU Games had a long history, dating back to the 1980s software pioneers Davidson and Associates. As of 2008, VU Games owned Blizzard Entertainment, Fox Interactive, Sierra Entertainment, Black Label Games, Universal Interactive and Knowledge Adventure. VU Games grew large through years of acquisitions. Known as Vivendi Universal Games, the games arm of Vivendi Universal Publishing.
